THE PHOTO:
Archive hunting again, this time I decided to blend two exposures taken from atop the parking building adjacent to the Police HQ building in Docklands overlooking the historic Goods Shed building and facing intersection. A ninety-degree anti-clockwise view of the Docklands corridor taken from the same spot is here.

Two exposures blended (layers), crop, dodge/burn, levels.

Inside the mountain-top monument overlooking Port Arthur (Lushun) harbour, China - but looking down in to the rickety wooden staircase.

A rare 'older' piece of architecture found in the relatively young city of Dalian in China.

3-shot HDR composited and tone-mapped in Photomatix. Shadow/highlight, levels/curves, rotate and crop.

This is a 55mm 'aged' filter - I was torn between this effect and the color one below:

Windmills were strangely prevalent in Dalian - probably due to the European influences from the turn of the 19th century. This one was stuck on a coastal out-cropping under a bridge.

THE PHOTO:
The imposing entrance to the Hue Imperial Palace. The amazing front and walls belies the decimated interior that is down undergoing restoration with the help of a foreign government (!).

THE PHOTO:
A decorative wall at the Imperial Palace in Hue, Vietnam.

POST PROCESSING:
I wonder how many of you noticed that I mirrored this shot through the center before I just told you now? Actually the wall didn't need mirroring, but the background through the gaps was noticeably inconsistent so I tried mirroring it with a better result. Other post-processing included bleach bypass filter, sharpening, dodge/burn, levels, and others.

THE PHOTO:
The last image here featured a woman walking across the Trang Tien Bridge in Hue, Vietnam. This shot shows the same bridge lighting up the Perfume River and the surrounding bank sides.

This bridge features a brilliant light-show at night where couples and groups along both banks can gather and watch as the lights shift from hue to hue.

THE PHOTO:
This is part of the ruins that make up the Imperial City complex in Hue. Sadly this majestic complex was mostly demolished during the Vietnam/American War. Even sadder, is that much of the complex was left like that, and only now is rebuilding taking place (due to overseas funding). It was a sad state of affairs to visit such a prominent and historic landmark in such a state.

POST PROCESSING:
HDR composite of 3 different exposures. Pre-processed in Photomatix and post processed in CS4. I've deliberately gone for a semi-unrealistic, over-processed HDR look to reflect the dramatic impact this left on my memory of this visit.

Taken from the Angkor Wat complex in Cambodia, looking across the famous lily pond, and back to the tourist balloon where the last shot was taken from.

Not a bad little money-spinner that operation - up and down again every 15 minutes on a fixed winch. Great views though.
